Top 10 Taylor Swift Lyrics You Will Love

Top 10 Best Taylor Swift Lyrics

With Taylor Swift kickstarting her Eras tour this month, my Instagram has been flooded with clips of her performances. This has resulted in adding more of her songs to my daily morning playlists. After listening to her albums over and over again, some lyrics have stuck out to me. Here are my top 10 favorite Taylor Swift lyrics at the moment:

  1. “Your Midas touch on the Chevy door

November flush and your flannel cure.”

  • Champagne Problems

This lyric beautifully illustrates Taylor Swift’s clever songwriting. The song as a whole is beautiful, but this line is by far my favorite.

2. “Oh, holding my breath

Won’t see you again

Something keeps me holding onto nothing.”

 –    Haunted

Haunted is a criminally underrated song that sheds light on how it feels to be in a crumbling relationship.

3. “You said I have to trust more freely

But diesel is desire, you were playing with fire

And maybe it’s the past that’s talking

Screaming from the crypt

Telling me to punish you for things you never did.

So I justified it.”

  • The Great War

I love that The Great War tells how much past relationships can impact how you enter new connections. If you have been burned in the past, you can relate to feeling apprehensive about trusting somebody new at their word.

4. “If clarity’s in death, then why won’t this die?

Years of tearing down our banners, you and I

Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts

Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first.”

  •   Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve

Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve is a song that is packed full of heartbreak. This lyric feels like a last ditch effort to reclaim what was once yours and the person you used to be.

5. “Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye

You were bigger than the whole sky

You were more than just a short time

And I’ve got a lot to pine about

I’ve got a lot to live without

I’m never gonna meet

What could’ve been, would’ve been

What should’ve been you.”

  •   Bigger Than The Whole Sky

I don’t think another song has made me feel more torn up inside than this one.

6. “This is me praying that

This was the very first page

Not where the storyline ends

My thoughts will echo your name

Until I see you again

These are the words I held back

As I was leaving too soon

I was enchanted to meet you

Please don’t be in love with someone else

Please don’t have somebody waiting on you.”

  •   Enchanted

Enchanted will always be one of my favorite songs by Swift. It feels absolutely magical, while simultaneously capturing the feeling of a first crush.

7. “I think I’ve seen this film before

And I didn’t like the ending

I’m not your problem anymore

So who am I offending now?”

  • Exile

Life experiences are funny because, while everything in a new stage of life feels brand new, you can pick up on patterns. That moment when you can see where a situation is heading is truly eerie, like history truly repeating itself.

8. “And isn’t it just so pretty to think

All along there was some

Invisible string

Tying you to me?”

  • Invisible String

I love this part of Invisible String. The idea that two people can be so fated for one another that even when they are apart, they are connected is beautiful.

9. “It only feels this raw right now

Lost in the labyrinth of my mind

Break up, break free, break through, break down

You would break your back to make me break a smile.”

  • Labyrinth

Labyrinth is one of my favorites off of the new Midnights album. I love the hope in these lyrics, illustrating the effort loved ones put in to help each other through the healing process.

10. “I like shiny things, but I’d marry you with paper rings.”

–  Paper Rings

This lyric from Paper Rings just makes me happy and is relatable for any hopeless romantic.
