“Dark Night”
By Ashley O’Hare
Dreams are supposed to be fun.
Sleep is meant to have a refreshing outcome.
Instead, nightmares seep into my flesh and bone,
plaguing the house I considered home.
A new perspective does nothing to stop it.
Every angle leaves my fragile heart haunted.
In this room, thriving in the darkness,
memories play in full sharpness.
My screams die out in the lonely night-
there’s no savior in my line of sight.
Staring up at the soft moonlight,
I wonder when my courage and hope will reunite.
Until the, I’ll suffer in silence-
it’s wrong to condemn another should to this mental violence.
