“Laws of Nature” Poem of the Day (2023)

“Laws of Nature”

By Ashley O’Hare

This snow falling,

coating entire properties,

remind me of

tears I shed last Tuesday.

I never stood a chance

against the laws of nature.

My body couldn’t maintain

a stable temperature.

With skin covered in pins and needles,

effort to feel joy is feeble.

Thin, aged string hold me together.

Hopes and dreams have long been severed.

Surviving in this world is daunting;

every stage of life brings new hauntings.

My only chance of getting through unscathed

is to turn numb and save my strength.
