“A Dead End”
By Ashley O’Hare
Your guilty eyes
will always give you away.
Every little white lie
slipping from your lips
won’t fall discretely into the abyss.
Now you’ve left me without a choice.
My blissful ignorance
and blind optimism
were discarded without a second thought,
like an old, stained childhood toy.
There is no way forward;
we’ve reached a dead end road.
I procrastinate turning around,
dreading the inevitable trip
down Memory Lane.
