Drive-In Movie Theaters Make Movies Better

Why Drive-In Movie Theaters are Superior

When I was younger, I was lucky enough to have a local drive-in movie theater. I watched some of my favorite movies at the drive in; The Avengers, Toy Story 3, Ant-Man, etc. While I love traditional movie theaters, there are some advantages to watching films at a drive-in that make me wish I still had one nearby.

The first advantage to going to the movie theater is the ability to talk during the film without disturbing the other viewers. In a typical movie theater, viewers are mere inches away from others. Even a whisper can be distracting to the person beside you. Sitting in the comfort of your own car allows you to freely talk to your friends and family if you wish. On the flip side if talking during a movie is one of your pet peeves, then a Drive-In provides you with a quiet environment.

In my experience, the drive-in charged customers by car rather than by individuals. Depending on how many people are in your party, you can save a considerable amount of money. Some Drive-Ins also play two movies in one night for the flat rate of one vehicle, so you can double your savings. Another way drive-ins save you money is by food. The concession stand may be a similar price, some drive-ins have food trucks and ice cream trucks on the premises as well. While some drive-ins have rules against bringing food from home, others openly allowed it.

Comfort is the advantage that stands out the most to me. Depending on your vehicle seats and the chairs of your local movie theater, the seats itself may be far more comfortable. The power to control the temperature of the movie watching environment is always nice. If you are feeling too warm, you can turn on the air conditioning or crack a window. If you are feeling too cold, you can turn on the heat or bundle up with a pillow and a blanket. No matter how you are feeling, you can tailor your movie watching experience to you specifically.

All in all, drive-in movie theaters are something that I wish were more popular. Watching a brand new movie at a drive-in turned it from a simple viewing to a true experience to look back on. I used to love playing card games and tossing a football around with my siblings while we waited for the sun to go down. Having more drive-ins around would promote more family outings and spending time with friends.
